Response of Norway spruce to treatment of soil with cement dust

Soil under the 6-years-old trees of Norway spruce was subjected to the application of cement dust (2 kg m sup(-2) once a year during two years) from filters of cement factory. Results of the treatment showed increased soil pH (from 6.5 in control to 8.1 in treatment); decreased levels of available to plants of Mn, P, Cu; increase available levels of K, Ca, Mg and B; and no influence on N. Seasonal changes from June 1999 to January 2000 by fractions of soluble carbohydrates (glucose, fructose, sucrose and maltodextrins) in current year needles were analysed using an enzymatic method
