Veterinary biology (VB) is a broad field of study that explores the importance of both genetic selection and ecology in veterinary medicine and disease resistance in farm animals. In reality, veterinary biology is relevant to all veterinary disciplines, as the ultimate goal of this field of study is to better understand the control and direction of individual development for the maintenance of immunological health of animal populations or herds. In this regard, we review new research directions in the area of neurohumoral control of immunity, nutritional control of immunological development, and methods for stimulating the immune system of animals. Because vaccination in the early postnatal period is usually accompanied by a reduction in growth rate and a young animals ability to form an immune response is low, there's an urgent need for research into novel immunostimulants and immunoprotectors, especially with the recent appearance of drug-resistant microbe strains. Veterinary biology, as a subdiscipline of veterinary science, with its strong theoretical basis, can provide the profession a reasonable model for investigating and solving these current and future health problems
