The use of liquid feeds in ruminant nutrition has been well accepted for many decades in countries with advanced cattle management practices. In 1998, for the first time in Hungary, the commercial manufacturing and distribution of molasses-based liquid feeds was started under the development project of Kaba Sugar Factory. The results of the feeding trials conducted with MelaFer N - the liquid feed first developed - were favourable. When using the product, an increase in milk yields and milk protein were observed. The feeding of Melafer N is especially recommended when producing milk (late lactation) and meat based on roughage diets. Due to the favourable results, the product was well received by the market.
