Utilisation of ammonia of sugar factory juices

Emission of ammonia in water and air should be kept under the level determined by environment protection standards. In Hungary the laws and standards of the EC will be introduced in the near future, though the national standards are in most cases as strict as those of the EC. To meet enviromental requirements, ammonia emission from the sugar factory should be reduced. This work summarizes the different ammonia elimination methods presented in the literature and proposes a new process.
