The side effect of metsulfuron methyl herbicide on brownplanthopper (BPH) Nilaparvata lugens Stal. of rice plant was studied in the greenhouse of Barif Entomology Department during 1994/1995 wet season, using Randomized Block Design with six treatments and four replications. The result showed that the herbicide did not affect the number of newly hatched nymphs, the number of unhatched eggs in the leaf sheath and the reproduction of BPH
