A study of ownership management system and investment analysis of tractor land preparation in tidal swamp area of Kalimantan. The study aimed to investigate the profitability of tractor operations based on ownership management. The study conducted in 1997/1998 in the area with dense tractor of Banjar regency, South Kalimantan. The results of the study showed that the ownership system of tractor consisted of individual and collective. The individual ownership system during four years of operations has positive impact as indicated by BCR of 1.14, Net Present Value (NPV) of Rp. 1.4 million, and IRR = 23.74 percent. The Break Event Point (BEP) area was 21.92 ha/year, and the BEP rental rate was Rp. 134.609/ha. However, since collective ownership oriented more to the introduction of tractor rather than economic profitability, then this groups were not profitable. Therefore, differentiation of ownership management system determine the economic of tractors
