Starch content of tuni sago (Metroxylon rumphii Mart.) in Tandia Wasior, Manokwari (Indonesia)

The objective of the research was to study the degree of starch content of tuni sago (Metroxylon rumphii Mart.) species from the Tandia area of the Wasior district. The research was carried out during (a period of about) 1 month from March to April 1996 in the Sago Stand Forest of the village of Tandia in the Wasior district of the Manokwari regency. Data for this research were collected utilizing the descriptive method in conjunction with the survey technique. The results of this study showed that the highest starch content was found on sago trees showing a mature state of inflorescence compared to 3 other phenological stages evaluated on immature state of inflorescence, on early state of inflorescence, and in a post manure state of inflorescence
