[The effect of Triacontanol on yield and quality seed of the red pepper LV-3044]
1999
Sumpena, U. (Balai Penelitian Tanaman Sayuran, Lembang (Indonesia))
The aim of this experiment was to find out the proper concentration of Triacontanol to increase the yield and quality of pepper seed. The experiment was conducted at Experimental Farm and Seed Technology Laboratory of Research Institute for Vegetable, from July 1996 to February 1997. A Randomized Block Design was used in the field with three replications and nine treatments of Triacontanol application, i.e: 0.00 ml, 0.10 ml, 0.20 ml, 0.30 ml, 0.40 ml, 0.50 ml, 0.60 ml, 0.70 ml, and 0.80 ml per litre. Triacontanol solution was sprayed on the whole foliages and flower at full bloom by twice applications at 70 and 89 days afer transplanting. The result of this experiment showed that application of Triacontanol at 0.30 ml/l improved yield component i.e., weight of 1000 seeds and improved seed quality i.e., accelerated seed aging test and seedling emergence. Triacontanol at 0.80 ml/l improved seed quality i.e. percentage of seedling accelerated seed aging test, percentage of seedling emergence and dry weight of seedling. Triacontanol at 0.40 ml/l improved seed quality i.e. percentage of seedling at accelerated seed aging test and percentage normally seedling at classification vigorous seedling test. Triacontanol at 0.50 ml/l improved seed quality percentage of seedling at accelerated seed again test and percentage of seedling emergence at brick media test as Triacontanol concentration 0.60 ml/l and 0.70 ml/l improved at percentage of seedling at accelerated seed aging test
