[Most serious onion pests and search for effective control means]
1999
Paulauskyte, L. (Lithuanian Inst. of Horticulture, Babtai (Lithuania))
The most serious onion pests in Lithuania are onion maggot (Delia antiqua) and onion bulb fly (Eumerus strigatus). Two generations of these pests a year can occur in Lithuania, but the first generation usually causes the most damage. Application of insecticides and alternative control measures increased onion yield. Insecticides 50 EC Actellic 1 l/ha (biological efficiency - 77,4) and 2,5 EC Decis 0,3 l/ha (biological efficiency - 56,4) were most effective against pests in onions.
