[Intensity of barley grain breathing]

The given research was carried out to study the breathing intensity of barley grain grown under different soil-climatic conditions. The role of grain breathing intensity (BI) during storage is explained. The factors influencing grain breathing intensity were studied as well as the character and the quantitative effect of BI were determined in several barley varieties grown in the Mogilev, Minsk and Vitebsk regions of the Belarus Republic . The research data were compared and are presented. The research has shown that the BI of barley grain depends not only on the original moisture content of grain, but to a great extent on the variety of barley, and it should be considered when arranging the grain for storage.
