Investigation of the biological activity of growth regulators - stilites and their influence on sugar beet growth, productivity and yield quality was carried out at the Experimental Station of the Lithuanian University of Agriculture in the period of 1995-98. The stilites had been synthesized in the Department of Organic Chemistry of the Kaunas University of Technology. The biological activity of stilites was determined by means of laboratory screening method by growing barley in the solution of this growth regulator. The impact of stilites on the growth of sugar beet shoots and the accumulation of chlorophyll in the leaves were determined. The investigation results proved that spraying shoots with stilites (concentration 0.5 g/l) intensified shoot growth, increased the amount of chlorophyll in leaves and the productivity of roots as well as their sugar content.
