[Review on the environment in Latvia and the main environmental problems]

The essence and the significance of an environmental review of a country is explained. The following issues concerning the environmental review of Latvia are discussed: (1) the role of the environmental review in the state policy, (2) the structure of the review, (3) the analysis of the Latvian environment review, (4) the problems formulated and discussed in the Latvian environmental review, such as water quality, sewage, radiation, water resources, forest resources, environment and people's health, ground water, air quality, soil and agriculture, nature and biological diversity.
