As during the last decade the Estonian meat market has changed considerably, it has become important to estimate meat content and pork quality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the meat quality of live pigs and their carcasses as well as to investigate the influence of breed combinations on the quality of meat. The investigation methods consisting of Live Animal Measurements and Carcass Measurements are described. Meat traits and backfat thickness in different pig breed crossing combinations were measured by ultrasonic equipment. Carcass backfat depth was measured by a rule. Least-square means of meat traits in different pig-breed crossing combinations and the least-square means of meat traits in different crossing combinations after slaughter have been calculated. The data of the study are discussed and presented in tables.
