The large political, economical and social changes occurred in Latvian countryside in 90-ties with getting back the independence. At the present the principles of market economy, private property dominate in the national economy, especially in the rural economy. Together with the great positive changes feel the huge difficulties in the rural development. The amount of produced produce in agriculture is radically decreased. The the effective, competitive, subsidized foreign production pressing out domestic production. The seeking of developments goes on in the rural development. The scientific principles of Latvia's agriculture are worked out. Using of them allows the increasing of production efficiency and competitiveness. The scientific potential should be retain and renew. The entrepreneurship abilities of employers should be raised and developed the information retrieval. The quality of academic and professional education should be improved.
