[Institutional layout of the market and price information flow in the European Union]

In order to facilitate the European Union (EU) accession by Latvia there exists a necessity to report price information to relevant EU institutions on regular basis according to EU requirements. A substantial part of this information already has been collected and processed. The information processed basically has been targetted towards farm producers. The institutional system of implementation the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) by EU emphasizes the collection and processing of market and price information suitable for the policy making process thus enabling Latvia to complete the tasks of member country. Therefore there is a need to work out the methodology for the introduction of the system for collection, processing and delivery of the information on the regular basis and to create a network of price monitoring.
