Influence of calcium preparations on the concentration of Ca, P and Mg in the blood serum of cows

The aims of the experiment were to investigate: (1) the effectivity of Ca preparations used internally for the prophylaxis and treatment of the hypocalcaemia and (2) the changes in the level of Ca, Mg and P in blood serum after the internal use of Profycale and the intravenous application of Ca preparations. For the experiment three groups of cows were used. The condition of cow health and the procedure of the experiment are described. Biochemical results of the treatment were evaluated before and after the treatment. The most important results for the prevention of the hypocalcaemia were obtained after inu Ca preparations administration. The Profycale (2 times per os) was effective for the treatment of mild hypocalcaemia, but was not useful for preventing milk fever.
