Differences in the social structure of rural communities

The division of the rural according to the main source of income is gaining significance as more and more residents of rural areas find employment outside agriculture. This criterion makes it possible to determine the advancement of the rural areas multi-functional development and also to present agriculture's current role in shaping rural community. The classification presented in the article is based on data provided by a survey of 8401 rural families carried out in 1996. The survey proved that employment outside agriculture stimulated in an essential way the polarisation of features and functions of farms
