In 1994-96 a field experiment was conducted to study the performance of five leek cultivars. Yields of leeks obtained were influenced by cultivar and weather conditions during vegetation. Keeping ability of leeks depended on the cultivar atmosphere conditions during storage. The content of dry matter of the plant varied from 15.03 to 21.25 percent. The content of vitamin C depended on cultivar and varied from 16.00 to 20.14 mg percent. There were also cultivar differences in the content of total and reducing sugars. The acidity of leek cultivars varied from 0.70 to 1.04 percent
