Estimation of yielding of new sugar maize varieties

Ten sugar maize varieties under conditions of the Wielkopolska region (Poland) were evaluated. The earliness, the yield of ears, the yield of first class ears, the number of ears harvested per 1 ha and per 1 plant, the length and diameter of cobs and the number of grains per ear were assessed. Considering mean for 3 years, earliest varieties were Indira, Beretta and Sweetear and the latest varieties were Cornucopia and Exellency. The varieties which gave the highest yield of ears with husks per ear were Bonanza, Cornucopia and Royality. Variety Centurion was characterized by the highest number of ears harvested per 1 ha and per 1 plant
