Is Diaporthe perjuncta the teleomorph of Phomopsis viticola? [Portugal]

In a survey of fungi associated with excoriose of grapevines in Portugal, Diaporthe perjuncta was encountered occasionally. Attempts were made to determine if it is the teleomorph of Phomopsis viticola. The fungus was self-fertile and the Diaporthe state which formed on autoclaved grapevine twigs in pure cultures was indistinguishable from the Diaporthe state found on the host in the field. Although the anamorph corresponded to P. viticola, a search of the literature revealed that a range of morphological characters is connected to this species. The type specimen was examined and found to be unsuitable. Therefore, until a lectotype is designated this species name cannot be applied with any confidence
