Relation between plant reduction of two-rowed winter barley by winter killing and crop condition before winter period

The aim of the paper was to find relation between plant reduction of two-rowed winter barley (varieties Marinka and Monaco) by winter killing and crop condition before winter period in relation to different variant of fertilization (a - non-fertilized control, b - rational fertilization dose, c - fertilization according to Michalik and Lozek) and sowing rate (2,5 - 4,0 - 5,0 mill. germinable grains per hectare). It was found out that reduction of two-rowed winter barley by winter killing could be influenced with the proper plant fertilization. From observing variants of fertilization, the lowest reduction (7.3%) was scored on variant b . From the viewpoint of sowing rate, the lowest one was scored at the lowest sowing rate, but for keeping of optimal plant number and formation of other elements for achieving stabile yield was more profitable variant with the highest sowing rate. It was established the positive correlation between dry matter weight and plant reduction by winter killing (according to years r = 0.03 - 0.79), when higher reduction of plants (higher than 10%) was scored at dry matter up to 0.28 g per plant. For the good wintering of two-rowed winter barley crop the highest dry matter weight of plant before winter coming ought not to exceed 0.27 g (Marinka) or 0.29 g (Monaco). Between number of tillers and the reduction of plants by winter killing was found out the correlation (r = -0.11 to +0.29). The lowest reduction of plants by winter killing were scored between the second and the third stage of organogenesis. The most important for reduction of plants was the climate of individual year
