Water stable aggregate formation dynamics in Orthic Luvisols as influenced with cropping systems

The aim of this contribution was to obtain results which would allow to evaluate the effect of two chosen model farming systems (biculture - spring barley, corn and tetraculture - spring barley, pea, wheat, corn) onto the creation and changes in the content of water-resistant structural aggregates of Orthic Luvisol in the agroecological frame of Zitava hills. The research was carried out in the years 1994 - 1999. The content of the most valuable category of water-resistant aggregates (0.5 - 3 mm) was in the year 1994 unsatisfactory (bicuture - 18.92%, tetraculture - 16.12%). In the sixth year (1999), the measured amounts (biculture - 24.58%, tetraculture - 29.98%) signal more favourable situation. Differences between farming systems were observed also in the content of the 0.25 - 10 mm aggregates (biculture - 44.28%, tetraculture - 51.32%). Structural state of Orthic Luvisol became satisfactory in both farming systems (more than 40% of 0.25 - 10 mm aggregates on average)
