Cadmium content in plants of oats, rye and silage maize cultivated on strongly contaminated fluvisol

In the years 1996-1998 were cultivated oats, rye and silage maize on the soil with overlimited content of cadmium. From the agrochemical point of view the soil could be classified as soil with neutral reaction, low content of phosphorus, middle content of potassium and total nitrogen and with high content of magnesium and calcium. The influence of NPK fertilization on the cadmium bioavailability by cultivated plants in comparison with the non-fertilized control was evaluated on the nutrition and fertilization treatments (the minimum, traditional and overproductive dosage). All treatments of fertilization and nutrition indicated highly significant yield increase of cultivated plants compared with control. However, the content of cadmium in the soil and plant production wasn't influenced with the dosage of nutrition. But there was found difference between plants in its uptake according to the species. The overlimited content of cadmium was rated in oats and rye in straw and also in grain. Content of cadmium in dry matter of silage maize was also overlimited.
