Culture of Dunaliella salina with various photoperiods: 3:21, 6:18, 12:12, 16:8, 18:6 and 24:0 hrs (168 hrs) showed that the optimum photoperiod for its growth is on 18:6 hr, which the algae revealed the highest increasing rate of 96.89 percent in cell number and also with 80 percent uniform cell size at the 96th hr. From the result of the above experiment, the culture of D. salina was further conducted under the photoperiod of 18:6 hr and observed hourly at 72-90 hr (light period) and 91-96 hr (dark period). The highest increasing rate of 90.10 percent in cell number (from 2.222*10*[6) to 4.224*10*[6) cells/ml) was occurred at the 92nd hr. The average cell size were gradually increasing until 91st hr, to 12.58 micro in length and to 10.60 micro in width, and then decreased abruptly only at the 92nd hr, to 11.37 micron in length and to 8.87 micron in width. The chlorophyll a content was appeared gradually increasing to the highest (0.882 pg/cells) at the 90th hr and then decreased 54.20 percent only at the 92nd hr (0.464 pg/cell). The study also revealed that, the increasing in cell number of D. salina by longitudinal division caused the daughter cell became smaller than its mother cell.
