1995
Wang, P.Y. (Taiwan Sugar Research Institute (China))
Trapping was conducted in sugarcane fields to study the composition of rodent species and their seasonal abundance during 1972 to 1979. Mus formosanus, Bandicota nemorivaga, Apodemus agrarius, and Rattus losea constituted 50.4, 20.0, 13.2, 10.7 and 1.4 percent of the trapped population respectively, while the domestic species, Rattus rattus, was of 0.3 percent only. However, their relative abundance varied among the locallities and seasons. M. formosanus occurred mainly in December to January, B. nemorivaga in May to June, R. losea in August and A. agrarius in September. When trapped females were dissected, 26.1 23.2, 19.0 and 13.5 percent pregnancy were found in A. agrarius, R. losea, M. formosanus and B. nemorivaga respectively. The pregnant females contained averages of 4.4, 4.7, 5.4 and 4.1 progeny respectively.
