Study on Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) and Chinese Kale (Brassica alboglaba) yields and incomes under hydroponics condition

Hydroponics is the science of growing plants in a medium without soil, using mixtures of the essential plant nutrient elements dissolved in water. There are several advantages in hydroponics culture such as, no tillage, no weeds, cleanliness, no toxic substance, uniform and high yield etc. This study was conducted on growing Coriander and Chinese Kale in the solution introduce by the Agricultural Chemistry Division (1991) and modified by Wichien and Nitee (1991) and in the solution of 21-21-21 folia fertilizer and micronutrient fertilizer at the concentration of 500 and 250 ppm, respectively. Later, the concentrations of the solutions were decreased to 250 and 125 ppm, respectively. The objectives of this study were to find out the solution formula for growing Coriander and Chinese Kale and the income from these growing. The result were as follows:- The suitable solution formula for growing Coriander and Chinese Kale was 250 ppm folia fertilizer, 21-21-21 mixed with 125 ppm micronutrient fertilizer solution. Other, Add 0.03 M. NaFeEDTA solution 0.05 ml per 1 litre culture solution every two days. The Yield from rowing Chinese Kale was 1,945-3,032 kg/rai and the income was 97,250-151,600 Baht/rai/crop (40 days). The profit was 11,614-69,983 Baht/rai/crop (40 days), if sale 50 Baht/kg. The Yield from growing Coriander is 261-485 kg/rai the income is 52,200-97,000 Baht/rai/crop (40 days). It is loss 33,436-98,086 Baht/rai/crop (40 days), if sale 200 Baht/kg. It was possible to growing Chinese Kale in hydroponics in this solution formula. Growing Coriander gave low yield and income. It will be higher yield, If improved culture solution and cultural method are provided.
