Weed control on chickpea fields in Aegean region

Herbicides were tested in Izmir- Bornova (h: 10 m) and Denizli-Tavas (h: 870 m) against weeds in chickpea fields. Trifluralin 96 g/da as pre plant incorporation, imazethapyr 2g/da, terbutryn 100g/da, linuron 95 g/da as pre-emergence and linuron 71.4 g/da as post- emergence at 10-15 cm growth stage of chickpea had been applied. Hand hoeing at 40 and 70 days after emergence and hand weeding at pod stage of chickpea were done. Precipitation was 61.9 mm in Bornova and 17 mm in Tavas one month after seeding and total weed coverage 60-80% and 5-10 respectively. Main weeds were Chenopodium album L., Urtica urens L., Polygonum aviculare L., Fumaria officinalis L. ve Fumaria parviflora Lam. in Bornova Chenopodium vulvaria L., C. album, Erysimum repandum L., P. aviculare in Tavas.Trifluralin, terbutryn and one and two hoeing were effective on weeds more than 90%
