A study on the present status, economic aspects and the development of covered vegetable crop production in the Marmara Region

This study based on the survey with farmers that produce vegetables in greenhouses in Balikesir, Bursa, Canakkale, Sakarya and Yalova provinces in the Marmara Region. These provinces have got 96,5 % of total greenhouse landscale in the Region. There are two periods of produce in spring and autumn seasons in greenhouse production. The main products are cukurbits, lettuces and beans. Although it depends on products, 51-78% of total products are marketed to the wholesalers. Farmers are unconsciously using more chemicals for diseases and insects
