Change of the intrinsic rate of population increase of Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae) following hexythiazox treatment

Sublethal effects of hexythiazox were assessed through the intrinsic rate of increase of survivors following application to different developmental stages of Tetranychus urticae. Experimental treatments inducing differential mortality in immature stages were used while the recommended field rate of hexythiazox (50 mg/L) was used against adult. Survivors exposed to hexythiazox as deutonymphs were the only stage influencing the intrinsic rate of increase. They had decreased longevity and net fecundity rate. Biologically significant effects were observed in individuals, which survived hexythiazox applications causing over 90% mortality. Below that mortality level the effect rapidly decreased. Other developmental stages were not affected regardless of the mortality level achieved hexythiazox application.
