Effect of inoculation and soybean genotype on soil microbial [flora]

There were studied various groups of microorganisms (ammonifiers, free nitrogen-fixers, azotobacter, fungi, actinomycetes, and total microbial abundance) and their abundance in the soil during the growing season of soybean. Three soybean genotypes (Afrodita, Belka, and NS-L-300168) and two types of inoculation (with NS-Nitragin and with a mixture of NS-Nitragin and three strains of Azotobacter chroococcum) were used. The results have shown the abundance of microbial groups to be dependent on the soybean genotype, type of inoculation, and the climatic conditions, i.e. the year of study. When the mixture of NS-Nitragin and three strains of Azotobacter chroococcum was used, the number of azotobacters increased relative to the non-inoculated control. The number of free nitrogen-fixers and total microbial abundance were much higher in 1995 than in 1996, while with ammonifiers the situation was opposite. The abundance of fungi was greater than that of actinomycetes in both years. The use of the variety Afrodita significantly increased the number of free nitrogen-fixers, total microbial abundance, and the abundance of fungi.
