Napomyza gymnostoma (Diptera: Agromyzidae) is a serious pest on bulbous vegetable crops in Serbia (Yugoslavia). It has two generations (in spring and in autumn) and overwinters as pupa in infested plants. The first generation develops in spring on young onion and garlic plants, and the second one in autumn on leek and young onion plants, too. During the summer months the species has a diapause in pupal stage in the plants. The larvae is stalk and bulb miner, and under heavy population young plants can be completely destroyed.
