Effect of additive of selenium and iodine in ration of ewes on somatic cell count in the milk

Study was carried out with Tsigai and Karakachan breeds of sheep.Two groups of 12 ewes were formed from each breed.Experimental groups received for 210 days 0.250 mg Se as NaHSeO3 and 0.10 mg J as KJ daily.Less cell elements content was found in the milk of the two experimental groups from the breeds Tsigai and Karakachan, that received Se and J in the ration.Higher variation in the milk among different test days was observed in Karakachan breed.Average content of somatic cells in the sheep milk corresponded to first grade according Council Directive 92/46/EEC, when it was intended for thermal prossedding for milk products.
