Investigation of the thinning effect on air polluted Norway spruce stands in the Jizera Mts. (Northern Bohemia) has started since 1979 when the thinning series Tetrevi boudy was founded in elevation 940 m (zone of air pollution A with expected survival of mature spruce stands of 20 years). In the period of air pollution culmination in 1986-1989, next two series have been founded (series Kristianov in zone of air pollution B and the second series in zone A - Tetrevi boudy II). Presented work analyses the experience reached in experiments mentioned above up to 1999 mainly from the viewpoint of health condition and thinning regimes.
