The fishes assemblage of the barbel zone Berounka river in the years 1998 and 1999

The work provides the basic information about species diversity of the typical barbel zone in the Berounka river. The growth, distribution, abundance and biomass of the fish assemblage were observed. A total of 18 fish species were identified. The most abundant species were Leuciscus cephalus (29 %), Gobio gobio (24 %), Leuciscus leuciscus (16 %), Rutilus rutilus (14 %) and Barbus barbus (13 %). Barbus barbus produced the highest biomass (41 kg/ha in 1998 and 31 kg/ha in 1999).
