The likely effect of the WTO negotiations upon the SR agri-food trade

The current situation alludes to the continuing efforts towards the world trade liberalisation. It is likely that this trend will be advocated in the current negotiation round of the World Trade Organisation, of which the Slovak Republic is also a member. A comparatively low average tariff level applied in the Slovak agri-food import calls for a better knowledge of the level to which it will be practicable to reduce the currently applicable tariffs while ensuring at least a minimum protection of domestic producers.
