Observations on field-scale trials in traits seed yield, oil content and oil yield by winter hybrid oilseed rape (Pronto) and conventional varieties (Eurol, Falcon, Bristol, Capitol, Lirajet, Olymp, Slapska Stela, Zorro) in four year period (1995/1996 to 1998/1999) have been evaluated. Hybrid variety Pronto achieved every year not only the best seed yield in comparison to the mean of conventional varieties, but also better yields than the best of conventional ones. Oil content was however below 100 % each year and twice even lower than the lowest of conventional varieties (1997/1998 Capitol, 1998/1999 Lirajet), differences were however very small. In spite of subnormal oil content, Pronto (owing to high seed yield) achieved also the high oil yield. Differences to the best conventional varieties were however not so significant as in seed yield. In one of these observed years Pronto has been exceeded by conventional variety (1997/1998: Pronto 107.4 %, Bristol 107.6 %).
