Response of soil microorganisms and buckwheat plants to cytokinins

Studies were performed in the conditions of cold greenhouse in plastic pots (in five replications) filled with Eutric Cambisol of light loamy sand granulometric composition. In the experiment on the background of constant nutrients level the effects of isopentyl alcohol (IPA) and adenine (Ad) at the rate of 13 mg/kg of the soil and benzyladenine (BA) at the rate 1.3 mg/kg of the soil were analyzed. Precursors of cytokinine and benzyladenine were applied twice: half amount of the total rate 7 days and the rest 14 days after field bean emergence. The next experimental pots were sprayed with water solution of benzyladenine at the concentration of 45 mg/l. Studies were made in two experimental series with or without Azotobacter sp. inoculation of the soil. It was found that effects of tested chemicals on buckwheat yield were small and limited to adverse influence of isopentyl alcohol in the series with Azotobacter sp. inoculation and benzyladenine in treatments without inoculation. Tested chemicals modified number of soil microorganisms. Cytokinin precursors and benzyladenine increased number of organotrophic bacteria, Azotobacter sp. and actinomycetes.
