Efficacy of new insecticides against damson-hop aphid (Phorodon humuli)
2001
Muska, F. (Statni Rostlinolekarska Sprava, Brno (Czech Republic))
Phorodon humuli is a very significant harmful agent in agriculture. Aphids are 1-3 mm long. Their body is fine with different colours. Wings are mebraneous, translucent. Effective hop protection against pests and diseases is the most important condition for high quality hops yields, as a significant raw material for brewing industry. Tests on the efficacy of insecticides against Phorodon humuli were carried out during the period 1993-96 as the registration traits. The aim of these tests was to verify the efficacy of new insecticides. Tests were carried out in Trsice hop region. On the base of these tests a very good efficacy of new products of the group chloronicotinyl insecticides Confidor 70 WG (imidacloprid), Mospilan 20 SP (acetamiprid) and a Chess 25 WP (pymetrozine) was proved. Now only 1-2 applications of insecticides are necessary for protection of hop-gardens in Czech Republic (in previous years 3-5 applications were required).
