Calcium oxalate urolithiasis in dogs
2001
Kucera, J. (Veterinarni Osetrovna PET, Brno (Czech Republic))
Sixty-one (27 %) of the 228 canine uroliths analysed by IR spectrometry were identified as calcium oxalates. The most frequently affected breeds were Poodles, Schnauzers, and Small Short-Haired Pinschers. The occurrence in males was 11fold higher than in females. The average age of the patients was 8.2 years. Most of the uroliths were located in the lower excretory ducts. Relapses were observed in about 13 % of the patients. The same percentage was affected by urinary infections.
