Miao Yungen (Zhejiang University, Hangzhou (Chine). College of Animal Science, Department of Sericulture)
The study showed the total larval duration was reduced considerably in the batches treated with Jinlu (an anti-JH) in the third instar or fourth instar in both spring and summer crop. Other parameters such as cocoon weight, shell weight, shell ratio and filament length were reduced in the batches treated with Jinlu in the third or the fourth instar. On the other hand, reelability % increased with less size deviation and fine silk filament. In the batches treated with Jinlu in the fith instar marginal improvement was observed in shell weight, shell ratio and filament length
