GIS-based fertilizer advisory system

A GIS-based precision fertilization recommendation system was elaborated.The sytem, unlike previous Hungarian agricultural practice, does not treat the fields as homogenous plots, but takes into account the fact that there may be soils of several genetic types in each field.The recommended fertilizer rates are therefore not calculated for the average values of the field.Naturally, this method is only an improvement on recent Hungarian agriculture practice, if there are several soil types within each field.Experience shows that this advisory system will assist in the time-and space-oriented realisation of sustainable agricultural growth and land use.
