Leaf rust resistance of winter wheat cultivars registered in the Czech Republic

In winter wheat cultivars registered in the Czech Republic leaf rust resistance genes have been studied since the sixties. At present the most common gene is Lr3, followed by Lr26, Lr10 and Lr1. Dr.R.F.Park carried out tests with Czech cultivars in Australia and postulated in addition also Lr13 and Lr14a. None of the above-mentioned genes is effective to all leaf rust races determined in the Czech Republic. To the prevailing races only resistance gene Lr1 is effective. Differences in leaf rust severity on registered cultivars in the field are rather due to partial than specific resistance.
