Rabies - current situation
2000
Kerekes, B.
The author outlines the newest results of rabies control in Hungary. In the years from 1997 till 1999 a significant decrease in number of cases was observable as a result of oral immunisation carried out since October 1996 in the western part of the country (38 000 km2). There has not been such a low number of cases for 25 years. Opponents of oral immunisation -especially game managers- consider it is an "intervention into the nature" and request suspension of vaccination.
