Puccinia striiformis f.sp.tritici is major pathogen of wheat in the UK and northern Europe. It is highly specialised pathogen, existing as a large number of pathotypes (races), varying in their ability to overcome the specific resistances of different host cultivars. Current knowledge of the pathogenic variation within the UK population of P. striiformis has been gained the United Kingdom Cereal Pathogen Virulence Survey (UKCPVS).
