The author makes a historical review of viticulture and fruit production in Hungary, and the problems of its statistical survey. He analyses the situation of viticulture from 1872 on and, in the meantime, evaluates the prevailing survey methodologies. The fruit production of the last century is presented similarly, and details the methods for the survey of fruit trees. Then the future tasks are outlined in short in order to give a wide range of information.
