'Honey Heart' its a new Japznese plum (Prunus salicina Lind.) cultivar released by the National Institute of Fruit Tree Science, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 1995. 'Honey Heart' was developed from the seedlings of 'Sordum' x 'Nishida' to improve the fruity quality of mid-season maturing cultivars. The trees are moderately vigorous and spreading. Fruit development period of 'Honey Heart' is about 11o days. It matures about one week earlier than 'Sordum' and almost the same season with 'Santa Rosa'. The trees are self-incompatible, and resistant to stem canker caused by Xanthomonas campestris pv. pruni. The fruit is large, round, attractive, with a reddish purple blush. The fruit is deep red, juicy with a relatively high sugar content and low acidity. The fruit quality is good. The cultivar is recommended for commercial cultivation throughout the plum-growing areas in Japan
