The effects of lysine and methionine supplements to a low protein diet and the daily access time to high or low protein diets on the laying performance of chickens

We investigated the effect of feeding once a day or twice a day, by changing the crude protein (cp) levels of diets fed in the morning and afternoon, on the laying performance of chickens by the use of 18, 16 or 14% cp diets which contain the same level of lysine and methionine. The results on the laying performance of chicken were as follows; 1) Egg production and egg weight were significantly reduced according to the protein diets in use. However, the total laying performance was still high. 2) The difference of cp levels of diets fed in the morning and afternoon gave no effect on the laying performance of chickens. 3) There was no significant effect of the difference of co levels of diets on egg quality. 4) The feeding of 18% cp diet in the morning and 14% cp diet in the evening showed the highest profits
