The aim of this paper is to study the reuse possibility of the purified wastewater for Agriculture. This water in Japan is discharged into public water territories without paying any attention after being treated. The purified wastewater can also be referred as the newly developed water resources. It is useful for the people who live in arid areas to manage irrigation water. The authors tried to grow soybeans and corns in sand dunes by suing this purified wastewater in cooperation with chinese researchers of Institute of Desert Research Academia Sinica. The experimental fields were set at the Shapotaudesert research station in the Tengger desert which is attached to the Academia Sinica. The study was carried out from 1987 to 1990. In this study, we aimed to use the nutriment contained in the wastewater. Therefore, a roughly-treated method was applied. For the first two years, Chinese soybean was grown by the use of the wastewater treated by an anaerobic treatment method, which can be operated simply and economically. For the last two years, corn was grown by the use of the water purified by an aerobic treatment method. It is concluded that the treated water is very useful for agriculture in the desert. This is the second report on a series of the study on the reuse of the purified wastewater for agriculture in the Chinese desert
