[Buckwheat cultivation for seed]

Over the period 1997-1999 field trials with the purpose to determine the optimum sowing time, seed rate, sowing method and different nitrogen rates on the buckwheat variety 'Smuglianka' on sandy and sandy loam soils were conducdet at the Perloja Research Station of the Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture. Experimental findings showed , that the best time for buckweat sowing were the second and third ten-day period of May. Sowing rates and method had no influence on the seed yield of buckwheat.
