Ontok, P. | Dacayo, J. (Department of Science and Technology, Cotabato City (Philippines). Regional Office no. 12)
The experiment involved three factors in split-split plot in RCB [randomized complete block] design with three replications: cropping schemes (hybrid crop monocrop; hybrid corn intercropped with peanut; hybrid corn intercropped with mungbean); rates of nitrogen (0, 75, 150 and 225 kg N/ha) and hybrid corn (Cargill 848, Fareast, Mariana and Pioneer 30 B29). Fareast with peanut intercrop gave the highest ne t profit when applied with 225 kg N/ha and Pioneer 30B 29 with peanut intercrop gave the highest return of investment when applied with 75 kg N/ha. Hybrid corn intercropped with legumes was more profitable than hybrid corn monocrop and it can greatly improve farm productivity and ultimately increase the income of the farmers
